OUR STORY

South Hills Baptist Church has been on mission for Jesus for well over 60 years in Fort Worth, TX. In 2005, God provided our church with the opportunity to sell our property to a Spanish-speaking church that was thriving in our original neighborhood. Our church purchased 11 acres of land between the new Summer Creek neighborhood and the almost completed Chisholm Trail Parkway. We built a multi-purpose worship center/gymnasium in 2006, and have since then added space for Children’s Ministry, Student Ministry, and additional rooms for our Adult Small Group Ministry, but the story of our church isn’t merely about buildings.

Our story is about the individuals and families at South Hills who dedicate themselves to fulfilling the Great Commandment to Love God and Love People. It’s about the Small Groups who live life together, grow as disciples, multiply, train leaders, and equip members for service. And it’s about the whole congregation coming together to fulfill the Great Commission to make disciples of all people, whether across the street or around the world.

Our experiences as a dedicated, multi-generational congregation have prepared us to respond with flexibility to His calling in an ever-changing world. This makes South Hills an exciting place for families and Christ-followers of all kinds to gather with one another. In January of 2014, South Hills called Chris Wright to serve as our Lead Pastor. He has led us to recognize that we gather only to be sent, using the passion and gifting that God has given us to further His Kingdom, one person at a time. We look forward to being a part of what God will do next with and through our church family, so that we may continue to tell of His great faithfulness and unending love.
