Starting Fresh

Church Family,
As the new school year is underway, please join me in praying for our families and students. We had ten seventh graders move into the Student Ministry. These students begin a new chapter at church and school. With this new chapter, there are new and recurring distractions from God and His Word. One way we are assisting the students to focus on God is through the FireFall series Start Fresh. We have discussed how to have a clean start through Christ, and our worth is far more than what the world says about us. We have worth based on God (Psalm 139:13-14). This week we are discussing how to start fresh each day because God’s love is faithful and His mercies are new each morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Another way to combat the distractions is through the Youth Retreat (October 11-13). We will be going to Mt. Lebanon and discussing how we can return to the Father. If you have a student wanting to attend, please turn the $20 deposit in by this Sunday, September 8. The total cost is $70 per student, and this covers transportation, food, shirt, and material. There is a sign up sheet on the sound booth.
I have been reflecting more the last few months on God, His Word, and guidance by the Holy Spirit. I have constantly been reminded I cannot do anything apart from Christ, and I must rely on His guidance through the Holy Spirit. With God’s mercies being new each morning, we can be refreshed when we spend time in prayer and His Word. “The Holy Spirit rarely screams to make His voice heard. Instead, He breaks through the darkness in whispered tones—with words of comfort, conviction, hope and victory. He speaks with mellow warmth and startling clarity. Listen carefully. Welcome God’s subtle whisper in your life.” (30 Devotionals for Youth Leaders)
In Christ,
