End of Summer
It is hard to believe August is already here and summer is quickly winding down. As back to school preparations are being made for some and vacations are winding down for others, we can be thankful for all the blessings God has given us this summer. Our Small Group involvement and worship attendance have remained strong, we have welcomed several new members, we have served the community together, and we have had fun fellowshipping together. Vacation Bible School, Student Camp, and Preteen Camp were all a great success and impactful in many ways. God continues to be good to us, as He always has been. As we wrap up our summer schedule and begin preparing for the fall here at South Hills, there is much excitement thinking about the ways God wants to grow us in our faith and use us to point others to faith in Jesus.
Yesterday in our morning worship service we unanimously approved hiring Whitney Brand to come on staff full time to lead our ministry to children and families. She has been a blessing to our church and a great asset to our staff in her part-time role over the past seven months. On September 1st Whitney will transition to her full-time role with a new last name (she and Cody Fleenor get married this Saturday). Please pray for her and Cody in the coming weeks as they begin a new phase of life.
Thank you, church family, for seeing the vision to reach future generations with the Gospel and making it a priority. Taking this step of faith is much more than voting yes. In order to effectively reach children, students, and their families it is going to take all of us giving financially, serving diligently, and praying faithfully as we trust God to empower us for this incredible task. I say this often, but I wholeheartedly believe our best days are ahead. Join me in seeking to finish the summer strong and begin asking God to do something BIG through us every day.
